The Tree Warden is responsible for the town’s public shade trees under Massachusetts General Law 87. This entails taking down diseased and dying trees along public byways, as well as planting new and replacement trees.
The Fairhaven Tree Departments Mission statement is:
To preserve, propagate and maintain a safe, healthy, tree canopy for the town of Fairhaven.
The Tree Department is staffed by a part-time elected Tree Warden and two part-time tree laborers who work 2 days per week.
Trees on private property are the responsibility of the property owner.
Tree emergencies such as trees blocking a public way should be reported to the Fairhaven Police Department at (508) 997-7421.
If a tree is on fire please contact the Fairhaven Fire Department at 508 994 1428.
The Tree Warden is an elected position. Any inquiries about Town trees may be directed to the Tree Warden at dcollasius@fairhaven-ma.gov
Any Inquiries made to the Select Board’s Office are forwarded to the Tree Warden.
Requests for planting, trimming, pruning or tree removals can be made by filling out the form below or in person at the Select Boards office.
