Highway Department

Welcome to the Fairhaven Highway Department, where our mission is to maintain and improve the town’s infrastructure to ensure safety, accessibility, and quality of life for all residents, businesses, and visitors.

The Highway Department is responsible for the upkeep and repair of town roads, sidewalks, drainage systems, and public ways. Our team manages snow and ice removal during the winter months, street sweeping, signage, pothole repairs, and storm cleanup. We also oversee seasonal projects such as paving, line striping, and tree maintenance in public areas.

In addition to roadwork, the department works closely with other town departments and utility companies to coordinate projects and respond to emergencies that impact our roadways or infrastructure.

We take great pride in keeping Fairhaven running safely and smoothly year-round. If you have a question, concern, or service request, we encourage you to reach out — we’re here to help.

SEPTIC NOTICE – FOR THOSE ON SEPTIC SYSTEMS

For those of you with Septic Systems…

Whatever goes down your toilet, sink, or shower pipes ends up
in your septic system and affects how well it works.

Please do your part to be SepticSmart by taking these simple steps:

  • Think at the Sink! Please keep grease, fats, harmful chemicals,
and hair out of the drain. They can clog or damage your system
and can cause an expensive plumbing mess.
  • Don’t Overload the Commode! Please do not flush non-degradable
items such as dental floss, diapers, wipes, hygiene products, or hair.
  • Be WaterWise! Stagger use of water-based appliances. All of the water in
this home’s pipes ends up in the septic system. Efficient water use improves
the operation of a septic system and reduces the risk of failure.
