FAIRHAVEN ALERT: State of Emergency - WEDNESDAY FEB. 25 AM UPDATE -- Estimates for Fairhaven is 36+ inches of snow in some locations.
SCHOOLS are CLOSED on Wednesday February 25 & Thursday, February 26 --
TOWN OFFICES / FACILITIES are CLOSED on Wednesday February 25 --
PARKING BAN: A parking ban is in full effect and will be strictly enforced. We kindly ask residents to stay off the roads to allow the BPW to clear the streets efficiently.
- As the governor has lifted the travel ban, Fairhaven is requesting you to remain off the streets. As of this morning, only 65% of the streets are open -- MEMA is en route with additional equipment to assist. We hope to be 100% open by Friday.
TRASH & RECYCLING is Postponed for the week - Normal Pick up will resume Monday, March 2 --
SHELTER/WARMING CENTER ASSISTANCE: 508-994-1428 x 7201 --
FIRE/POLICE: Fully staffed and on the road. 911 is fully operational --
EVERSOURCE UPDATE: 98% of Fairhaven has power. They continue to work on other areas -- hope to have a majority with power by the end of the day today.
- We anticipate that normal town conditions will be restored by Saturday.
SAFETY:
WATCH FOR DOWNED POWER LINES - They may still be energized
WATCH FOR PLOWS. They need to get speed to clear the snow. No one should be walking on roadways.
COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE:
- Please check on your neighbors, especially the senior and disabled populations. Call 911 for assistance.
- Please try to stay off the roadways
- Please shovel fire hydrants.
- In order to reopen schools, please open up sidewalks so our children have safe pathways --
- IMPORTANT:
Expect basement flooding. Please check to make sure your sump pumps are in working order and that the discharge areas are free of snow and ice. Expect basement issues through the weekend.
Make sure generators are free of snow and clear.
Check that your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors are working.
If you are able, please try to clear out storm drains.
