Mission Statement
The Community Preservation Committee (CPC) started in 2005 after Fairhaven voters adopted the Community Preservation Act (CPA). The Community Preservation Committee is charged with studying the needs, possibilities and resources of the Town of Fairhaven regarding community preservation. Appointments to the committee have been made by the Board of Selectmen (4); Planning Board (1); Conservation Commission (1); Housing Authority (1); Historic Commission (1); Board of Public Works (1) for staggered three year terms.
The CPC oversees Fairhaven’s Community Preservation Fund, selected preservation projects, and recommends selected projects to Town Meeting for funding. Preservation projects may include acquiring, preserving, and creating open space, historic resources, land for recreation use, and community housing.
