Author Talk with Anthony Amore: The Rembrandt Heist

Join Millicent Library for an evening with acclaimed art theft investigator and author Anthony Amore, Director of Security at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum.

Amore will discuss his latest book, The Rembrandt Heist, a gripping investigation into the theft of one of the world’s most famous paintings and the shadowy world of art crime. Named one of Smithsonian’s Ten Best History Books of 2025, the book draws on Amore’s decades of experience investigating major art thefts and protecting priceless works of art.

For more than 20 years, Amore has led security efforts at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, where he continues to work toward the recovery of the thirteen artworks stolen from the museum in 1990. He is also the author of five books, a practicing private detective, and teaches a graduate-level course in Art Crime at Harvard University’s Museum Studies program.

Following the talk, there will be an opportunity for questions, and book signing. Free admission — donations welcome.
