The Board of Selectmen have approved the following parking restrictions for the upcoming fireworks display on Friday July 4, 2008 or whatever date to which the New Bedford fireworks display is postponed due to inclement weather:
1. The east side of Fort Street will be a No Parking Zone from 6 P.M. to 11 P.M. when the fireworks display is held.
2. The area that is currently posted No Parking on Old Fort Road and Fort and Green Streets south of Doan Street will be temporarily posted as a Tow Zone.
The police department will post these areas accordingly.
The Police Department will also be restricting travel in certain directions on certain roads for approximately 1/2 hour after the fireworks in order to expedite traffic out of the center area of Town.
