The Treasurer under Massachusetts General Law chapter 60 Section 54 is the custodian of all properties that have had liens placed on them for non-payment of taxes.
The policy of the Treasurers office is to attempt to set up a payment plan with the deliquent taxpayer(s) in order to collect the amount due to the Town.
If this is not sucessful the Town will start the Foreclosurer proceedings with the Land Court.
