RULES FOR CURBSIDE WASTE COLLECTION

1. Rubbish must be placed at the OUTSIDE EDGE OF sidewalk no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection (when is my collection day?)

2. Only standard containers of no more than 36” in height and 32 gallon capacity will be collected. No wooden barrels, steel drums, fish totes,etc. will be picked up.

3. Rubbish containers or trash bags weighing more than 50 lbs. will NOT be collected.

4. All cardboard boxes must be broken down and tied in bundles not to weigh more than 50 lbs.

5. Plastic bags must be tied closed.

6. Homeowners are allowed 10 bags or containers per week.

UNACCEPTABLE CURBSIDE WASTE:

Yardwaste - Brush, leaves, grass clippings, branches	Arsene Street Yard Waste & Recycling Center or Special Leaf & Yard Waste Collection
Most Recyclables	Curbside Recycling or Arsene Street
White Goods - washers, dryers, water heaters, etc.	Arsene Street
Propane tanks	Arsene Street
Electronics - televisions, cathode ray tubes (CRT’s), microwaves, printers, other electronic devices	Arsene Street
Items with Freon – refrigerators, air conditioners, freezers, dehumidifiers	Arsene Street
Automotive - Motor oil, oil filters, tires, car batteries	Arsene Street (used motor oil can also be returned to where you bought it from)
Fluorescent light tubes (contain mercury)	Arsene Street
Mercury Containing Items -,thermostats, thermometers, rechargeable batteries, elemental (‘liquid’) mercury	Call Board of Health at 508-979-4022 to make drop-off arrangements
Certain Hazardous Chemicals - waste paints, stains, solvents, adhesive, waste fuels, poisons, preservatives, photo & pool chemicals, cleaners, aerosols, pesticides and pharmaceuticals/prescription medicines.	Household Hazardous Waste Day (HHHWD) – Requesting funding for Fall of 2008 Private Facilities
Non-Acceptable Hazardous Chemicals - Gas cylinders, fireworks, explosives, medicines, syringes, infectious & biological wastes and radioactive wastes.	Private Facilities( (limited, check first)
Gasoline, diesel fuel, kerosene, fuel oil, pesticide, cleaning fluid, paint remover, paint, turpentine, varnish, mineral spirits, weed killer, any liquids, any flammable gases, acids	Private Facilities (limited, check first)
Oil based paint, tar, thinner not accepted curbside (Dried out latex paint cans will be accepted in your trash, air dry or use sawdust/kitty litter)	Private Facilities (limited, check first) NOTE: The Town may seeking funding for a special paint collection day for eith Spring of ’08 or ’09, check back)
